Jordan Historical

The Jordan Historical Society does have a web page on www.JordanNY.com
From the front page go to Erie Canal Museum, Jordan Historical Society & Local Genealogy.

As with most groups the Jordan Historical Society is a group of volunteers and very, very busy.
I will ask if they could possibly write a story each month that could be posted on www.JordanNY.com

Will keep you posted.

Re: Jordan Historical

I was wondering if the Erie Canal Museum had a web site that showed some of their collection or had a partial history of Jordan. I have been to the one that is linked from JordanNY.com. It has some great information, but I was wondering if there was a place on line that gave some information on what the museum has in its collection.

I am sending a picture of the cannon ball that is in the museum and wonder if anyone can give me information about it. I was told that a cannon was fired when Lincoln's funeral train came through the village on its way to Illinois. The ball hit a tree near where the Ramsdell school now stands and remained lodged in the tree for many years. When the tree was finally cut down they found the ball where the tree had grown around it. Is this what happened?
