an original Erie Canal Village with a distinctive concentration of nineteenth and early twentieth century architecture. During the 1830-40's and 1870-85's the Erie Canal made Jordan a principal commercial, industrial and transportation center of western Onondaga County.

Jordan Hotel decorated
Dave V. in Oregon shared this photo of the Jordan Hotel decorated with flags.
Is that a historical sign on the right side of the photo? I don't think it's still there. I'll check tomorrow. If not does anyone know what the sign said?
The picture is a view across Clinton St from North to South and it was a busy intersection back then because it was the old Route 31 which ran right through the village. That leads me to my opinion that the signs are showing the mileage to other cities and villages. They were pretty common back when.
