Scheduled for January 26, 2008 the Jordan Boy Scout troop will host several troops from western Onondaga County at the Klondike Derby.
This event is based on the heritage of the Klondike Gold Rush of the late 1890's, and challenges scouts with problem solving events and skills proficiency. The derby will be located primarily in the canal bed between the school and firehouse, but will also take scouts through the village as they participate in a scavenger hunt.
Our community is blessed with three active troops from Memphis, Jordan and Elbridge. Many of our elders have fond memories of scouting and our community has several Eagle Scouts who have contributed to the betterment of our village.
Recent Jordan Village Eagle Scout projects include the construction of Kenneth Bush Park (Chad Platten), construction of a patio on the firehouse (Paul Ramsden), creation of a Stations of the Crosstrail behind the Catholic Church (Tom Schlegel), building restoration and painting at the Baptist Church (Jason Lewis), village wide clean-up (David Platten), signage and trail clearing for the Alpine Run (Jacob Schutt), cemetery maintenance on Quince St. (Todd Bishop) and trail side benches on the canal trail (Adam Porter). Eric Bishop, Chris Weingarth and Brian Hart have all done projects to benefit the Jordan Pool. Additionally, many other scouts have contributed with projects throughout the township.
Please join us in welcoming the scouts in January
